With the rainy season comes the increased risk of illnesses such as bacterial and viral infections. These are some tips that you can give to your kids.
- Always bring an umbrella and a raincoat.
An umbrella protects them from weather, rain or shine. A raincoat will keep them warm and dry.
- Remember to keep good hygiene.
Teach them about viruses and bacteria and how these are transmitted. Remind them to regularly wash their hands, especially before eating and after going to the bathroom.
- Wear a face mask.
Always provide your child with a medical grade face mask to block viruses. Remind them to wear this especially around crowded places.
- Do not cross floods.
Playing in puddles is something that might be tempting to a child. However, remind them that floods may carry bacteria that can make them ill. Provide your child with rain boots as well, since these are essential for a rainy day kind of weather.
- Keep distance and avoid contact with sick people.
Teach your kids about how diseases are transmitted. Remind them to cover their mouth and nose with a handkerchief if a mask is not available and tell them to also avoid physical contact with sick people.
